Are We a Good Fit? What You Don’t See Matters Too
Before you fall in love with a before-and-after photo, look a little closer.
Not just at the work.
Look at what surrounds the work.
When someone is treating your skin, the environment, preparation, communication and attention to detail matter just as much as what eventually makes it onto Instagram.
That’s part of being a good fit too.
A Beautiful Space Isn’t the Same as a Professional Setup
I love a beautiful space. I want my clients to walk in and immediately feel comfortable.
But pretty décor isn’t what makes a treatment space professional.
Pay attention to the things that aren’t necessarily camera ready.
Is the treatment area clean and organized?
Does everything look intentionally prepared for one client not left over from the last?
Are fresh barriers and supplies being used where appropriate?
Are gloves being changed when needed?
Are single use items actually single use?
And does your provider seem just as concerned with those details as they are with getting the perfect picture afterward?
Those things tell you a lot.
You Are Allowed to Ask Questions
This is your skin.
You should never feel uncomfortable asking what is being used, how something is cleaned, what to expect during healing or why a certain treatment is being recommended.
Ask.
A knowledgeable professional should be able to explain the process without making you feel like you’re being difficult.
I actually want my clients to understand what we’re doing.
Because when you understand the process, you can make a better decision for yourself.
Pay Attention During the Consultation
Your consultation tells you more than you may realize.
Yes, we’re talking about your scar, your skin and your goals.
But you’re also getting a chance to see how the provider works.
Are they listening?
Are they being realistic?
Do they explain what they can and cannot promise?
Are they talking about healing, aftercare and expectations?
Or are they just trying to get you booked?
There is a difference.
Not every treatment is right for every person, and sometimes the professional answer is not yet, let’s start differently, or even this may not be the right treatment for you.
I’d rather be clear with you than tell you what you want to hear just to fill an appointment.
This Is What “Are We a Good Fit?” Means to Me
Being a good fit isn’t simply whether you like my personality or my work.
It’s whether my standards match what you’re looking for and whether what you’re looking for is something I believe I can responsibly provide.
I value education.
I value communication.
I value realistic expectations.
And I value the details that clients may never notice because, when they’re done correctly, you shouldn’t have to worry about them.
I also believe you should expect those same standards from anyone you trust with your skin.
Including me.
So yes, look at the results.
Look at the healed work.
Ask about experience.
But also pay attention to what happens before the camera ever comes out.
Because beautiful results matter. So does everything you don’t see in the picture.
